The Intricacy of Deception

The Meaning of Lies

Are you someone who gauges a lie on a scale from harmless to hurtful? If so, then the following article might have you thinking differently the next time you are faced with a choice between truth and deception.

We have all heard of a small deception being coined as a "White Lie." Some people tell "Big Lies", usually with the pretense that it will protect others in some way. Some people lie, because they fear the personal consequence of telling the truth. Others are driven to lie through discomfort, low self esteem or fear of judgment. Then of course, there is the ever elusive "Self Deception", that many people find comfort in. We have all been faced with the quandary of truth verses deception and no one is free of having committed some form of deception in their lives.

Studies show that by age four, 90% of children have grasped the concept of lying, and it just gets worse from there.

Just how bad is it? According to a 2002 study conducted by the University of Massachusetts, 60% of adults can’t have a ten minute conversation without lying at least once.

But even that number makes it sound better than it really is; those people in the study who did lie actually told an average of 3 lies during their brief chat. I know you’re sitting there right now insisting you would be part of the 40% that didn’t lie. That’s what the liars in the study thought too.

However, did you ever realize that the intricacy of deception runs deeper than you might have imagined? Have you ever complimented someone, because you were nervous, but didn't necessarily care for their outfit or new car? Has anybody ever solicited your deception by asking if you like their clothing, or if you like their new haircut, only to mask the truth about your honest opinion? Has anybody ever manipulated you by backing you into a corner and therefore controlling your choices? Have you ever been overpaid; even a nickle and made the choice to keep it; whether out of intent or with the thought that it really didn't matter?

These and many other examples of deception exist in our everyday lives. If you carefully analyze your environment, I guarantee you will find many deceptions in your life that you might not have noticed before. Deception has become so mainstream in our modern society, that we have become desensitized to noticing when we're committing it or even more importantly, when it is in our presence.

As a clairvoyant and spiritual counselor-teacher; my perception of deception doesn't vary. I know from both professional and personal experience that any form of deception has the ultimate ability to be catastrophic to the spirit and to those around you.

One deception seeds another and the negative energy created by it grows until it turns into a formidable monster that can wreak havoc on your life and spiritual path; leaving only confusion in its wake and sneaking up on you, ever so quietly.

Be aware of these pitfalls if you are seeking to live in the truth and find a sense of higher enlightenment and clarity of vision. The veil of deception whether big, small, self imposed or solicited by others, will block clarity in every aspect of your life.

Just as deception seeds deception, the truth seeds the truth and ultimately, the Truth Seeds Clarity!
